“It’s like Rocket League, but with feet!” Rematch Launches on PC This Summer

Sloclap, the studio best known for the hit game Sifu, is preparing to surprise players with its latest project. On June 19, 2025, Rematch — a fast-paced football arcade game — will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
Rematch delivers dynamic 5v5 matches with no offsides, fouls, or lengthy pauses. Players can switch roles freely, including taking up the goalkeeper position, emphasizing speed, coordination, and team play.
“It’s like Rocket League, but with feet,” players commented during the recent open beta test.
The game has also drawn comparisons to the popular anime Blue Lock:
“Rematch feels like the perfect Blue Lock game. It’s all about individuality, speed, and winning,” one fan wrote on forums.
Others praised the adrenaline-fueled action:
“Such an adrenaline-packed sports game. Every second keeps you on edge,” players shared on Steam.
The open beta, held in April, was a resounding success, with peak concurrent players on Steam exceeding 100,000. The strong interest has already sparked conversations about Rematch potentially becoming a new esports phenomenon.
Interestingly, players also suggested that the concept could be expanded further:
“If Sloclap nails it with football, nothing stops them from making a similar adrenaline-driven basketball game,” fans speculated.
Rematch’s visual style draws inspiration from French Impressionism and games like Breath of the Wild. Set in a vibrant futuristic 2065, the game offers extensive character customization options, celebrating diversity in appearance and style.
Editions and Pricing
Rematch will be available in three editions:
- Standard Edition — $29.99
- Pro Edition — $39.99 (includes 72-hour early access and exclusive cosmetic items)
- Elite Edition — $49.99 (additional exclusive items and bonuses)
Pre-orders are already open on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Marketplace.
Despite modern trends pushing towards free-to-play models, the developers have chosen a traditional paid model. Sloclap’s creative director Pierre Tarno stated that the main focus is to “just make a very good game,” rather than chasing monetization trends.
Expectations
Judging by early feedback and player activity, Rematch is already being seen as one of the most promising sports games of 2025. Its bold mix of arcade action, strategy, and intuitive gameplay could make it a serious contender alongside giants like Rocket League.
